The NZSIA/SBINZ Snowboard Interski Team got their 2015 training underway on opening day at Cardrona. A massive thanks to Rachel Milner (Snowsports School Director) and Cardrona Alpine Resort for their hospitality.

There is a lot of planning to be done as we prepare to represent SBINZ at Interski 2015.  Preparations have been ongoing for the past year and as the conference looms closer it’s even more important for us to be able to get together on-snow to put all of the great ideas developed to date into action.

Sadly Mother Nature didn’t cooperate on the day and our on snow time was cut short due to wind but we were still very productive.  Cardona supplied warm spaces and plenty of coffee as we moved indoors!

This indoor time allowed us to solidify our two on-snow clinics for Interski 2015 which will be focused on Versatility and Safety/Fun/Achievement respectively.

The Versatility clinic will focus on the skills that we build in our riding though our system.  We will show this from the level 1 certification all the way through to the Trainers certification explaining along the way the importance of strong all around riding.

The Safety/Fun/Achievement clinic will highlight the concept of an achievement focus to aid in student retention through improving the guest’s experience.

It was challenging to go from some great concepts, initially communicated through a goggle spreadsheet, into on-snow clinics.  After some lively conversation and note taking we were ready to present these clinics for the first time at examiner training the following week.

At the end of the day it takes a lot of support to prepare for an amazing event like Interski.  Once again we are extremely grateful for the continued support provided by Cardrona,  Thank you!
