With Winter 2015 fast approaching I thought it would be a good time to update you on the NZSIA/SBINZ Interski happenings over the summer months and let you know what’s planned between now and Interski in September.

The early arrival of Winter 2015!

The early arrival of Winter 2015!

Preparations

Over summer the team has been busy working on their presentations for the conference.
The NZSIA/SBINZ delegation have come up with some great material under the overall theme of “attract, retain and develop” participation in snowsports . As a team we’ll have the opportunity to present on snow as well as indoors with up to five 30 min timeslots available per nation for the off snow lectures. The NZSIA clinic topics and abstracts will be posted on the blog over the coming weeks so watch this space….

In addition, the team are looking forward to 5 runs on the demo hill as part of their presentation. This will include 3 synchro runs and 2 technical runs.

New to Interski 2015 is the ISIA giant slalom competition. The competition will see mixed nationality teams go head to head over the Interski week to find the ISIA champion. This will be a great way to meet delegates from other countries and the multinational format will allow for maximum participation.

Fundraiser Auctions

As some may have seen we have also launched our Interski  fundraising auctions through the NZSIA Facebook page. These auctions hope to raise funds towards the cost of attending Interski. Thanks to our great supporters we have been provided with some fantastic product to auction. We’ll roll out new items each week in the lead up to the season so keep your eyes on the NZSIA and SBINZ facebook pages for details or search  “NZSIA” on Trade Me.IMG_20140903_213455

New SBINZ Team Members

Unfortunately we’ve had to say goodbye to Dan Burton and Sean Thompson from the SBINZ Interski team. Due to other commitments they are no longer able to attend Interski. We welcome Tony Macri and Ryan Thompson to the team.

chairwebWinter Training

The Interski team is planning some early season training in the Southern Lakes so look out for the guys at a resort near you. We’ll post dates and locations once confirmed. In addition the team will get together at the end of August for 3 days  before heading to Argentina. The ski team will be offering clinics to staff at the resorts where the’re training so we hope you’ll take the chance to get out and have a ski with your Interski representatives.

Here’s hoping the winter weather continues. See you out there.

cheers

Mark
