Interski is just around the corner, only 3 weeks away, and most of the Team are not only getting ready for Interski but are also delivering courses and exams in Japan and Europe through this time- busy, busy, busy!

Here we have the final instalment of meeting our Alpine Interski team – this being the 4 selected to represent in show runs and presentations at Interski from the NZSIA Ski Technical Team.

Below is some of their thoughts as we gear up for Interski Finland 2023:

FELIX LEMPRIERE, EXAMINER & TECHNICAL TEAM MEMBER:

I feel extremely privileged to be representing New Zealand and our Snowsports industry at Interski. This will be my first time attending the congress and this opportunity is something that has been strongly driving my personal development over the past few years.

I am very much looking forward to sharing our philosophies, learning from other nations, and expanding my understanding. My intent is to share knowledge that I gain from Interski with the NZSIA membership, especially with the smaller and more remote ski areas that we have in New Zealand, which sometimes don’t get the same level of training that the larger areas do.

The connections that we develop with other participants as a team and as individuals will be a huge part of the experience and I hope to create lasting connections that continue to challenge and develop my skiing and teaching knowledge base.

HARRY MCFADDEN, EXAMINER & TECHNICAL TEAM MEMBER:

I am looking forward to traveling to my second Interski congress in Levi, Finland, way up in the Arctic Circle to connect with Snowsports instructors from all over the world to share information and grow our amazing industry.

The theme of the guest experience is a critical aspect that I am very passionate about that I believe we must continue to improve and develop on to keep Snowsports instruction growing.

At this Interski I will be presenting on and off snow in addition to skiing in the technical demonstrations. I am honoured to represent New Zealand and the NZSIAs members at Interski. I look forward to returning to Aotearoa to share what we presented at Interski to NZSIA members and what we gained from other nations.

CAMPBELL MASON, EXAMINER & TECHNICAL TEAM MEMBER:

I am excited to meet other like-minded individuals from other nations and learn from everyone at Interski about their views and beliefs on what makes a great guest experience so I can share back to the NZSIA membership.

I am also looking forward to sharing our views on what constitutes a good guest experience to the other nations. This includes Freestyle, of which I am super stoked to be presenting on snow about Freestyle and how it has been growing in NZ, including within the NZSIA with our Freeski certifications.

JOSH DUNCAN-SMITH, EXAMINER & TECHNICAL TEAM MEMBER:

This will be my 2nd time representing the NZSIA at Interski.

At the 2023 InterSki congress I am looking forward to sharing what the NZSIA has been up to during the past four years, how we are bettering the Snowsports guest experience, and learning how other nations are developing strategies to improve the Snowsports guest experience.

On a personal note, I am looking forward to asking very nerdy ski questions to skiers I admire from other nations.
