The tele guys have been busy with preparations for Interski – sponsorship has been a priority as we are a small division and are paying much of the expenses for Interski ourselves. With a much appreciated one third of the funding coming from NZSIA membership and course fees we have three major sponsors and a few minor.
The Major sponsors are:
Flush plumbing and heating LTD – $4000 cash
Fat Tyre Heli Bike and Mountain Biking Queenstown $3000 cash
Snowchaser Ski Guides and Hosts – $1000 cash
Scott Goggles and Volkl Skis have also come to the party, as well as Columbia for our uniforms.
The Telemark Workshop Presentation
Our Tele workshop at Interski will cover the following…
Telemark (sport) and Emotion – The ‘Telemark instructor’ view of the Psychology surrounding a telemark lesson.
Knowing and understanding the psyche of the student can give a better end result of meeting the goals of a lesson and or an individual’s success. Telemark is much about mental strength and belief as it is about physical fitness.
The 4Cs:
Concentration, confidence, control and commitment (the 4C’s) are generally considered the main mental qualities that are important for successful performance in most sports.
- Concentration – ability to maintain focus
- Confidence – believe in one’s abilities
- Control – ability to maintain emotional control regardless of distraction
- Commitment – ability to continue working to agreed goals
